What does Therapy mean?

Therapy is the process through which a trained psychotherapist assists clients in addressing specific or general concerns that affect their mental health. In Therapy, one can discover and grow. Even though Therapists use a variety of approaches and techniques, they all strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment for clients to express themselves. Therapy can take place in an individual, couple, family or group Therapy format.

How do I know if I need Therapy?

Will whatever I share in sessions stay between me and my therapist?

The clients’ information is kept confidential within the Therapy room by their Therapists. However, if the therapist believes the client poses a risk to himself or others, is severely disabled by mental illness, or is suspected of abusing or neglecting a minor or incapacitated adult, confidentiality may not be practiced.

How long will my sessions last?

Sessions usually last about 60 minutes and take place on a weekly basis. However, this may vary based on the nature of your concerns and the therapeutic approach being used by your therapist. You can speak to your therapist to figure out what works best for you.
